Narendra modi won TIME's online readers poll to become The Person Of The Year



Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have won TIME's online reader’s poll for TIME Person of the Year by defeating world leaders, artists and politicians.

TIME Person of the Year: Every year, TIME selects the most influential person of the year, noting, for better or for worse, the person or group of people who have had the largest global impact over the past 12 months.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi won reader’s poll with 18% of the vote. Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Julian Assange, tie for second place with 7% of the “YES” vote and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg (2%) and Hillary Clinton (4%).

According to TIME, "Modi performed particularly much better among Indian voters as well as those in California and New Jersey".

Modi saw high approval ratings, In recent months. Ratified the Paris Climate Change Agreement and banned 500/- and 1,000/- rupee notes in India.

Final 'Person of the Year' will be decided by Time's editors later this week, but the poll results provide a look at how the world sees these figures and Narendra Modi emerged as the most influential figure in 2016.
