Northeast students faced discrimination in Delhi again. - Discrimination with an Indian in India

We have heard several news, when people of northeast become victim of racism, and It has happened with a student of Delhi University Niyang Pertin ( from Arunachal Pradesh ) in the capital city of India again.

The incident happened when Niyang Pertin went to visit Jama Masjid along with her friends, On the 31st October, 2016. Niyang and her friends were asked to pay Rs 300/- per camera/mobile to get permission to carry inside of Jama Masjid, while others were openly carrying their phones and they were allowed to go in without any such charge or check.

According to the official Delhi Tourism website, entry to the Jama Masjid is free while a fee of Rs 200/- ( not Rs 300/-  ) is charged for photography.

Niyang Pertin raised her voice and shared this incident on social media. She asked, why they always have to show their identity card to prove that they are Indian.

Her message on social media received huge response, and MoS Home Kiren Rijiju shared the video of Niyang, he said "I had series of follow up meetings officially & socially across the country but sensitising people is finding tough. Dear Niyang, I'll follow it up strongly."  He also added that, "Despite Home Ministry taking various steps to stop discriminations against the North-East people still this type of incidents occur due to ignorance, lack of knowledge or attitude problems."

"Discrimination with an Indian in India", such a news is heartbreaking. India is known for 'unity in diversity' and such a news is against the ideology of Incredible India.
