#Balamuralikrishna - India Paid Tribute to M Balamuralikrishna

On Tuesday, Veteran Carnatic vocalist,playback singer and composer Dr M Balamuralikrishna passed away at age 86, at his residence in Chennai.

He started career at the age of 6. He has given over 25,000 concerts worldwide. His voice was also among the gamut of singers such as Bhimsen Joshi, Lata Mangeshkar Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shubhangi Bose and Suchitra Mitra to lend their voices to the iconic song Mile Sur Mera Tumhara in 1988.

Apart from native tongue, Telugu, M Balamuralikrishna works also include ones in other languages like Kannada, Sanskrit, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, and Punjabi. He was awarded by the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honor in 1991. Besides this, He won two National Film Awards (1976-1987), the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1975,  the Mahatma Gandhi Silver Medal from UNESCO in 1995, the Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government in 2005.
