5 Facts about Indian Constitution, you should know about it

Constitution is a most important factor of any country. Constitution of country decides - How people will live. While it gives freedom to speak, it binds us to save unity of country.

If we talk about written constitution, it was first introduced in USA. And If we talk about biggest written constitution, Indian constitution comes on the first place with 395 articles. Which was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949. That's why 26 Marked as Constitution day in India.

Here are some Facts about Indian Constitution, you should know about it.

  1. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee. Indian constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, and came into effect on 26 January 1950. 15 Articles of the Constitution came into force on 26 Nov 1949 and the remaining articles on 26 Jan 1950.
  2. 70% of current Indian constitution was adopted by  Indian Independence Act 1935. It had 321 sections and 10 schedules. But, Preamble was lacking. Indian Constitution is influenced by the Constitutions of British, United States, Irish, Australian Canadian, French  Soviet Union, Weimar Constitution (Germany) and South Africa.
  3. Article 370 of the Indian constitution is an article that grants special autonomous status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. which came into force on 14 May 1954.
  4. Fundamental Duties was not in original constitution. it was added to the Constitution by the 42nd Amendment in 1976, upon the recommendations of the Swaran Singh Committee that was constituted.
  5. Indian Constitution gives equal rights to each citizen under articles 12-35, despite this, there is Provision to provide reservation to ST, SC and OBC for Government and Private Education Institutions. And reservation in Government vacancies.
