Social Media blackout in Turkey

Access of three giant social media Facebook, Twitter and YouTube was restricted in Turkey on Friday (July 15), after news that a military coup was underway.

Turkey Blocks, that Map the Censorship in Turkey in Real Time, Confirmed that Twitter, Facebook & YouTube blocked in Turkey at 10:50PM after apparent military uprising in Turkey.

Matthew Prince, CEO of CloudFlare, a US-based internet security service tweeted that 50% drop in Internet traffic coming out of Turkey.

Twitter confirmed it.
While some users were using whatsapp and other chat apps, some users were using VPN to access blocked websites, Activist group Anonymous started sharing information about free dialup Internet access for the users of turkey. Which was also used for Egypt in 2011; when government has cut the whole country from the Internet.
