Google introduced two new Messaging apps Allo and Duo. Is it end of hangout !

Google has introduced two new messaging and video calling apps, Allo and Duo, whereas hangout is still in market.

Google is going with trend, which is, split features into standalone apps. Allo is similar to WhatsApp while Duo is Facetime.

1. Allo is a messaging app, it comes with smart Reply built in similar to Inbox. Smart Reply learns over time and will show suggestions that are in your style. Allo also features the Google assistant, which lets you use things like Search, Maps, YouTube and Translate to all your conversations. For third party apps. Google has also introduced "Gboard" and "Tap to tranlate".

And most Important, Security. Google has also created Incognito mode in Allo, similar to chrome. This mode provides end-to-end encryption and discreet notifications.

2. Duo is a video calling app, one-to-one video calling app. It comes with new feature called Knock Knock, which shows you a live video preview of the caller before you pick up. For privacy and security in mind and all calls on Duo are end-to-end encrypted.

While Allo and Duo will be competitors to Hangouts, but they aren't direct competitors. Hangouts is an online app tied into Google Account, yet it doesn't have the high adoption rate. Allo and Duo launched as mobile only app for Android and iOS, And both messaging apps based on phone number, so you can get in touch with anyone in your phonebook. Hopefully they will allow online access later on, which is not a big deal. It feel like these apps are more competitor to Messenger app rather than a Hangouts competitor.
