Facebook Partnered with Airtel Africa to launch Free Basics in Nigeria

In an segment of continuously expanding Facebook partnered with Airtel Africa to launch its Free Basics program internet.org in Nigeria.

Free Basics will be launched in Nigeria with more than 85 free services dedicated to health, education, jobs, and finance.

In November at AfricaCom, Airtel announced that it planned to launch Free Basics in all of its African markets, including Nigeria, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Gabon and Niger. Since 2014, they’ve already brought Free Basics to Zambia, Kenya, Malawi, Ghana, Seychelles and Rwanda.

According to facebook, more than 25 million users are using free bacis. More than half of the 40 Free Basics countries are in Africa.
