Now 'blind' people can 'See' photos on Facebook

Social media giant facebook is improving day-by-day. Now, this giant is taking care of visual impairments people. Facebook has introduced a new feature in its iOS app to give them better facebook experience.

Company introduces introducing automatic alternative text: With this new feature, they will be able to 'see' photos.



This AI generates a description of a photo using advancements in object recognition technology. People using screen readers on iOS devices will hear a list of items a photo may contain as they swipe past photos on Facebook. People could now hear, “Image may contain three people, smiling, outdoors.”

Company said, more than 39 million people are blind, and over 246 million who have a severe visual impairment. This new feature may help them to interact with visual world.

Facebook launching automatic alt text first on iOS screen readers set to English, but company plan to add this functionality for other languages and platforms soon.
