Facebook's 360 video is coming to Samsung Gear VR

Facebook is continuously expanding its VR project, now company has reached at new level with an announcement at Samsung Unpacked event.

At Samsung Unpacked event CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced its effort towards bringing a new ‘Social VR’ experience to the platform, with a partnership from samsung.

Company said, More than 20,000 360 video are already available on the platform. millions of people watch and hundreds more video added on the daily bases. Now, bringing it to new system is important step toward improving 360 video in VR.

Company also noted that, More than 200 games and apps are now available for the platform in the Oculus store, and people have already watched more than a million hours of video in Samsung Gear VR. Since Gear VR launched in November 2015.

Company has also created a Social VR team.
As we continue to make big breakthroughs in the technology behind VR, we’re also investing in efforts to explore immersive new VR experiences that will help people connect and share.

This team will work to create new use of VR. Company want to apply the approach to the new medium of VR. In the future, VR will enable even more types of connection — like the ability for friends who live in different parts of the world to spend time together and feel like they’re really there with each other.
Our work in VR is still early, and there are a lot of hardware and software challenges that we still need to solve. But we’re encouraged by our progress to date, and we’re excited to continue building VR technology that gives people new ways to connect and share.
